The
DVE-2 has four sets of ports for
video camera, video display, audio,
and RS232 camera control. These
connect to the TM-1300 chip’s
integrated peripherals for
concurrent real time video, audio
and telecoms I/O and are readily
accessible from software programs in
C or C++.

The
10/100 Ethernet bus provides for
data transfer across networks in a
distributed system.

The
I/O peripherals are supported by
library software functions which
make programming I/O, and especially
multitasking I/O, easier.

The
DVE-2 has an optional flash memory ‘DiskOnChip’
subsystem: this permits the DVE-2 to
store video and audio data locally
for a time: forinstance to store
high-resolution images on an alarm
condition or to cover breaks in
transmission.

The
TM-1300 processor is the ‘host’
processor for the disk operating
system.
-
The
flash disk can be configured so that
the program is loaded from flash
disk at power-on, and executed. This
facilitates development and porting
from traditional desktop PC systems.
