DMEK6414 & Analog video daughter board
Digital Media Evaluation Kit - DMEK6414
This new DMEK board will complement the ATEME range of Imaging Evaluation Kit products which is already composed of the IEK C6x11, the IEK C5509 and IEK/NVDK C6415/ 6416.

This stand alone system can be used for high-end applications in imaging and telecommunication fields from evaluation to development stage using FPGA development and software optimization on the very latest Texas Instruments TMS320C6414 DSP.

This board has been designed with digital video in mind according to its conformance to ITU-R BT.656 digital video standard. It is the perfect board to start with BT.656 digital interface that will become the de-facto standard in digital media.

For quick start, ATEME deliver an analog video daughterboard which can reduce time to market development. This daughterboard also include a CMOS camera-chip from Omnivision. This camera provides VGA (640x480) or QVGA (320x240) frames at a rate up to 30 frames per second.

Overview

The Processing resources section contains :

- TMS320C6414 DSP @ 400 Mhz,
- 16 MB SDRAM on A-Bus,
- 4 MB Flash on B-Bus,
- FPGA processing capability (up to 30 Kgates).

The general-use interfaces are:

- Serial links interfaces for data: McBSP, RS422, LVDS,
- Serial links interfaces for control: RS232,
- One Cross-Platform Daughter Card slot (cf TI standard SPRU 711which allow plug-in of standard extensions such as Ethernet board for network enabled applications ),
- Video Input/Output BT.656.

This large number of different interfaces allows any kind of applications and specificity.

The main Imaging features are:

- Digital video acquisition BT.656 standard,
- Digital video generation BT.656 standard,
- Analog video generation in RGB for VGA display,
- Analog audio acquisition (stereo, line level, CD quality + microphone input),
- Analog audio generation (stereo, line level, CD quality ),
- Digital audio I2S link (using McBSP feature).

The interfaces address the whole range of analog and digital media systems.

Specific video features for daughter board are:

- Analog video acquisition (NTSC or PAL) to BT656 digital video,
- Analog video generation (NTSC, PAL or RGB) from BT656 digital video,
- On board CMOS video camera-chip with BT656 digital video output.
