Overview:
TORNADO-HCX series of
host & communication controllers add
powerful hosting and communication
capabilities to
TORNADO-E2 DSP controllers
and
TORNADO Digital Radio Controllers
and unload their on-board DSP from
routine external communication and
networking tasks and to add data
post-processing and mass storage
capabilities. Very compact board design,
industry standard communication
interfaces, high-performance external
I/O expansion capabilities, and
comprehensive software bundle make
TORNADO-HCX controllers an
ideal selection for embedding into
virtually any custom industrial and
telecom designs.
TORNADO-HCX controllers
use high-performance Freescale
PowerQUICC communication processors with
on-chip PPC CPU core and integrated
peripherals including encryption unit,
PCI/PCI-X/PCIe bus interface, a set of
communication interfaces including 1G
Ethernet EMACs, USB 2.0 host/device and
UART, and a set of peripheral I/O
interfaces including I2C and
SPI. The PowerQUICC CPU along with
on-board high-capacity DDR and FLASH
memories, PIOX2 and HCX daughter-card
module (DCM) interfaces, and system
μ-controller
(MC) provide extremely powerful and
flexible host communication engine for
TORNADO-E2 DSP controllers,
TORNADO Digital Radio Controllers
and for custom embedded applications.
TORNADO-HCX controllers
come with ported Linux and FreeRTOS
kernel, TCP/IP stack and FAT32 file
system support, all free. Application
development is supported by Freescale
CodeWarrior compiler/debug tools.
