OverviewMost of TORNADO PC plug-in DSP Systems for ISA/PCI-bus and TORNADO-E stand-alone DSP Controllers feature the on-board parallel I/O expansion I/F site(s), which allow installation of high-speed application specific AD/DA/DIO and DSP Coprocessor daughter-card modules (DCM) in order to meet a variety of customer applications. Depending upon the TORNADO mainboard design, the on-board parallel I/O expansion I/F site might be either the PIOX or lite PIOX-16 version. |
PIOX sitePIOX I/F site is designed to carry AD/DA/DIO and DSP Coprocessor DCM with 16-bit and 32-bit data bus. PIOX I/F site is upward compatible with PIOX-16 I/F site and may either accomodate one PIOX/PIOX-16 compatible DCM, or convert into several PIOX-16 I/F sites. PIOX I/F site allows individual access to each data byte of 32-bit data word, and is used in 32-bit TORNADO-3x/4x/6x/P6x PC plug-in DSP Systems. PIOX I/F comprises of the following TTL/CMOS compatible signals:

PIOX-16 sitePIOX-16 I/F site is designed to carry the AD/DA/DIO DCM with 16-bit data bus. PIOX-16 I/F site assumes communication using full 16-bit data words, and is normally a subset of PIOX site. PIOX-16 is used in TORNADO-54x PC plug-in DSP Systems and TORNADO-E stand-alone DSP Controllers, and, as a subset of PIOX site, appears in all 32-bit TORNADO-3x/4x/6x/P3x/P6x DSP Systems for PC. PIOX-16 I/F comprises of the following TTL/CMOS compatible signals:
