The task of the Adapter Box with Converter Modules is to convert a digital TTL-signal to the power signal (24VDC/1A) for the motor of the control valve, to generate a digital signal for the right and the left limit of the valve and to map the potentiometer output to a voltage range of -10V...+10V.

The basis adapter box consists of a 19" housing with 2 power supplies (24VAC/6A and +/-15VDC,+5VDC) as well as 6 free slot for the Converter Modules. The connection to the PC-adapter card(s) is provided by 50-polar DSUB connectors on the rear panel of the Adapter Box. The Adapter Box with 6 Converter Modules is able to control 6 electrical control valves. Unused slots are covered with blind plates.

A Converter Module for one control valve is delivered together with a special cable which contains all connectors for one control valve. One switch is located on the front panel of the Converter Module for the operation mode with PC (automatic) and manual mode (open/close). 4 LEDs indicate that the valve is completely closed/opened and the direction of rotation of the motor (right/left).

Requirements to PC Plug-in Card

• 2 digital outputs (5V TTL-Level) to open and close the control valve
• 2 digital inputs (5V TTL-Level) for the limit switches of the control valve
• 1 analog input (+/-10V) for the range of the potentiometer
