The DAC98 is a multifunction PC adapter card at a reasonable price providing analog and digital inputs/outputs, high precision operation for quadrature incremental encoders, timer/counter for real-time operation and counting external events. The DAC98 offers a compact solution for position and speed measurements on an IBM-At-compatible PC. The evaluation of the incremental encoder signals is performed completely by 3 integrated circuits developed by amira. Each of these inputs is operated by two switchable register sets independantly from each other. This avoids loss of data during reading operations. The adapter card requires a 16 bit PC-slot and uses the supply voltage +5V from the PC bus. A DC/DC converter on-board provides the supply voltages for the analog circuits. Up to 8 DAC98 adapter cards may be installed in your PC at the same time because the card reserves only 16 addresses of the PC I/O address range. A 50-polar D-Sub connector provides all input and output signals. The shipment includes an extensive manual, sofware for function testing, driver routines in C and C++ source code as well as a DLL interface for Windows3.1 and Windows95. An optional adapter card is available providing all input and output signals at screw terminals.
