The C54x Simulator is a software program that uses
the host processor and memory to perform instruction- and C-level
simulation of the C54x DSP. It uses object code produced by the macro
assembler/linker or ANSI C compiler and the standard TMS320C54x Debugger
Interface. The simulator essentially provides XDS/22 software with the
debug capability for a C540, C541, C542, C543, C544, C545, C546, C547,
or C548 plus external memory without the DSP hardware.
The simulator provides cost-effective application development and
program verification in non-real-time. Each of the simulator's software
programs simulates C54x operation and allows monitoring of the state of
the processor. Simulation speed is typically on the order of hundreds of
instructions per second on a PC.
